Meet fellow Alt Marketing School teacher Jess Audley. We dive deep into the intersection of frameworks and hacks when building your strategy, as well as the role of social media in your marketing and much more. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Fab and Jess could have talked for hours, but sadly due to time constraints this is wall we had time for.


NEWS IN BRIEF

  • ⌚️ Watches, video portals and AR glasses. Facebook is about to launch its new smartwatch by Summer next year. According to The Verge, the new Facebook watch will include two detachable cameras, for users to take pictures and videos on the go, and be easily shared across Facebook and Instagram.
  • 🤗 The immense diversity of people and content on TikTok is what makes the platform such a special place. To celebrate this, TikTok has launched a new campaign to encourage positivity and inclusion in the app. The core aim is also to prevent online bullying in an effort to foster a more open, encouraging community atmosphere.
  • 🤝 There are more than 70 million active admins and moderators running Facebook Groups around the world, and to support them Facebook has announced a range of new admin tools. These include improved comment moderation processes, ‘Conflict Alerts’ and an updated overview dashboard which will highlight group tasks that require attention.
  • 🎙 According to TikTok’s latest research report, audio is also a key component of brand promotions, with TikTok users being more receptive to sound elements within ads than they are on other platforms.
  • 🛍 We know online commerce is all the rage these days, as every platform is finding new ways to facilitate social selling. To help navigate new trends, Facebook has published a new research report which highlights key considerations for brands looking to promote and sell products online. In the report, the brand focuses on the 4-part shopper journey.
  • 🎥 Fancy an Instagram update on the latest and greatest? Hear it all from Adam Mosseri in his latest video where he took the stage for a live Q and A session in which he answered a range of the most commonly asked questions from Instagram users. You can watch the video here.

BOOKMARK OF THE WEEK 👇

After a very, very long time (so much so that it feels like it would never happen), Instagram decided to grace marketers with an official explanation of how its algorithm works. This piece of information felt as elusive as the location of the Holy Grail, or Noah’s Ark.
